Since I am still sort of testing the waters and just now getting to know the various tequila websites and resources out there, I thought I would mention this event simply because it sounds like one of the greatest day trips ever conceived (that’s saying something considering I live a mere three hours from Sin City).
The Lobster Bus is an event that’s going into its third year this September. It’s bus ride (with cerveza provided free with admission and drinkable on the bus ride) from San Diego to Puerto Nuevo, a delicious lobster meal in Lobster Village with premium tequila provided by the fine folks at Tequila Fortaleza (formerly Tequila Los Abuelos)…get this…straight from the distillery, a stop at a fantastic, well-stocked tequila shop, and a scenic ride through Mexico and back across the border.
Did I mention you can booze it up while the bus is moving? And did I mention there was tasty lobster? I did? Well, maybe it’s worth mentioning twice. I might even mention it again later.
At this point, I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “Holy shit! I have to be a part of this. But I don’t even have the kind of scratch this trip will probably cost.”

For $80 bucks, you too can experience the wonder of Baja Lobster! (photo courtesy of PocoTequila.com)
To that I say you are WRONG, sir/madam. This trip is insanely reasonable. For $80, you too can join in on the fun and drink yourself silly while heading to Lobster Village. And you don’t need a passport since they are traveling to a portion of Mexico that requires either a passport or photo ID with birth certificate.
At this time, I do not know if they are sold out, but I have emailed info@pocotequila.com to find out if they’ve got any more seats available. If there are still seats open, I suggest you get in on this. If not, there’s always next year!
The trip is organized by the good people over at Poco Tequila (specifically Adam McMahan and his wife Sarai), who seem to have a lock on totally bad ass event planning for tequila/lobster enthusiasts. You can quote me on that.
Also, don’t forget: Boozing while on a bus ride. Lobster. More booze. Premium tequila from Tequila Fortaleza.
